How to register a death with SSE Energy

We’ve created this simple guide to explain their bereavement contact process

How to inform SSE Energy of a bereavement

SSE Energy has tried to make it as simple and painless as possible to close the SSE accounts of someone that has passed away.

You can contact their dedicated team of bereavement advisors by calling  0345 071 9611.

Their phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.

What information Will you need to provide to SSE Energy to register the death?

When you call the SSE Energy bereavement team, they may ask you for the following information:

  • Executor's full name and details (including forwarding address and a contact telephone number)
  • Details of the deceased including their address details
  • Customer reference number and an up-to-date meter reading if possible
  • They may also need to ask for a copy of the death certificate

What happens next?

Once you have provided all the relevant information about the deceased and their SSE account, SSE Will then proceed to close the account. If they require any further information from you, someone from their Bereavement team Will be in touch.
